1. Who we are
Yoga Nisarga (“we”, “us”) is a yoga school that runs 200-hour yoga teacher trainings, yoga retreats and drop-in yoga classes in Goa (India), Koh Samui (Thailand), Bali (Indonesia) and Sri Lanka. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
Our main centre is at Yoga Nisarga, near La Blanca Resort, Junaswada, Junos Vaddo, Mandrem, Goa 403527, India. You can reach us at info@yoganisarga.com or +91 91575 75731.
This policy explains what we collect when you visit yoganisarga.com, send us an enquiry, apply for a course or retreat, or study with us, and what we do with it.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Enquiries. When you use our contact form, email, call or message us on WhatsApp: your name, email address, phone number and whatever you choose to write.
- Applications. When you apply for a teacher training or retreat: your full name, email, phone number, country of residence, the programme and dates you are interested in, your yoga experience, how you heard about us and, if you choose, your gender, medical history and any mental health conditions (see Health information).
- Bookings and studies. If you join a programme: room preference, dietary needs, arrival details, attendance and assessment records, and the details needed to issue your certificate.
- Payments. We do not collect card details on this website. When you pay a deposit or fees, the payment is handled by your bank or the payment provider we name when you book, under their own privacy terms; we keep a record of the amount, date and reference.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data. Pages you visit, links and buttons you click, the page that referred you, your browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. We collect this with Google Analytics and PostHog (see Cookies and analytics).
- Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and the time of a request) to keep the website running and secure.
3. Health information
Our application forms ask, optionally, about your medical history and any mental health conditions. We ask because yoga, breath work and meditation are physical and emotional practices, and our teachers need to know what to adapt to keep you safe.
- Sharing it is your choice. You can leave these fields empty and talk to us instead.
- We only use it to assess whether a programme is suitable, to plan modifications and to look after you during your stay.
- We share it only with the teachers and staff who need it for your programme, and never for marketing.
- Where the law treats health information as sensitive (for example under the EU GDPR), we rely on your explicit consent, which you give by filling in these fields. You can withdraw it at any time by writing to us.
4. How we use your information
- To answer your questions and send you the information you ask for.
- To review your application, confirm your place, and arrange your accommodation, meals and transfers.
- To teach, assess and certify you, and to confirm your training if Yoga Alliance or a future employer asks.
- To keep you safe and look after your wellbeing while you study with us.
- To understand how visitors use our website and improve it.
- To keep records we are required to keep, and to protect our rights if there is a dispute.
We do not sell your personal information, and we will not send you marketing emails unless you have asked us to. You can opt out of any newsletter at any time.
5. Legal bases
Depending on where you live, data protection laws such as India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, the EU and UK GDPR, Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act and Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Law apply to how we handle your information. We process it:
- with your consent, for example when you send us an enquiry or share health information;
- to take steps towards, and perform, a contract with you when you apply for and join a programme;
- for our legitimate interests in running and improving our school and website, where those interests are not outweighed by your rights; and
- to meet legal obligations, such as keeping accounting records.
7. Embedded content and other websites
Some pages include content from other services: fonts from Google Fonts, videos from YouTube (on most pages the player loads only when you press play), maps from Google Maps, photos and links from Instagram, and a WhatsApp chat button. When that content loads or you use it, the provider receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. Links to other websites are not covered by this policy.
9. International transfers
We are based in India and run programmes in several countries, and some of our service providers store data in the United States and elsewhere. When your information moves between countries, we use providers that protect it with appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, and we only transfer what is needed.
10. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Health information: until 12 months after your programme ends, then deleted.
- Student and certification records: for as long as we may need to confirm your training, so you can always prove your certification.
- Payment and accounting records: for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Analytics data: according to the retention settings of Google Analytics and PostHog, at most 14 months for Google Analytics.
11. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information, unless we have to keep it by law;
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to a use based on our legitimate interests;
- send your information to you or another organisation in a portable format; and
- withdraw any consent you have given, without affecting what we did before.
To use any of these rights, email info@yoganisarga.com. We will reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm your identity first. Under India’s DPDP Act you may also nominate someone to exercise your rights if you are unable to. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live, such as the Data Protection Board of India or your local EU supervisory authority.
12. How we protect it
Our website is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, access to our email and records is limited to the staff who need it and protected by account security controls, and the website itself does not store the content of the forms you submit. No system is perfectly secure, so if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
13. Children
Our programmes are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has sent us their information, please contact us and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top shows when it last changed; for significant changes we will also tell you by email if we hold your address.
